Safeguard your feline friend from harmful diseases with a vaccination plan.
Cats and kittens are too adorable to be left vulnerable to harm. By vaccinating your cat/kitten you are helping to boost their immune system against many diseases. At East Oshawa Animal Hospital, part of our wellness program is to ensure that your feline friend gets their vaccines to keep them healthy now and protect them in the years to come. To schedule an appointment to get your cat vaccinated, please call us at 905-576-3344.
There are some vaccines that all cats need to have, they are called core vaccines. Core vaccines protect your pet from dangerous diseases like Rabies. The core vaccines that we recommend for cats/kittens are:
At our hospital we begin kitten vaccinations when they are about 6 to 8-weeks-old. These shots are given every 3 or 4 weeks until they are 4-months-old.
Adult cats should get their first booster vaccine one year after they’ve completed their kitten series. This is when our veterinarians may recommend non-core vaccines such as feline leukemia and bordetella. After that, your cat will need to be vaccinated once every 1 to 3 years depending on the specific vaccines they require.
Indoor cats need to be vaccinated. Being indoors does not protect them from diseases or parasites. Your kitten or cat can get infected by other pets and even contaminated objects within the home.
